SECTION V - HEALTH HAZARD DATA
PRIMARY ROUTES
OF ENTRY: X Inhalation X Skin Contact X Eye Contact X Ingestion
EFFECT OF OVEREXPOSURE
ACUTE:
Inhalation: Severe overexposure may result in nausea, dizziness, headache. May cause drowsiness, irritation of eyes and nasal passages.
Skin Contact: Prolonged contact causes irritation and defatting of the skin.
Eye Contact: Contact with eyes causes irritation and temporary corneal clouding.
Ingestion: May cause nausea, dizziness, gastric upset and vomiting.
CHRONIC: In animal studies in rats and mice, N-MP was embryotoxic by the oral and intraperitoneal routes at very high dose levels. In a dermal
exposure study with rats, N-MP was only embryotoxic at the high dose levels. This effect was attributed to maternal toxicity.

MEDICAL CONDITIONS AGGRAVATED BY EXPOSURE: Not known.
EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES
Inhalation: If overcome by vapors, remove to fresh air and if breathing stopped, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Call
physician.
Eye Contact: Flush eyes with flowing water for 15 minutes and call a physician.
Skin Contact: Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash skin with soap and water for at least 15 minutes. If irritation develops, get
medical attention.
Ingestion: If swallowed, dilute with water. Immediately induce vomiting by sticking finger down victims throat. Call physician or poison control center
immediately.

STEPS TO BE TAKEN IN CASE MATERIAL IS RELEASED OR SPILLED
Eliminate all ignition sources. Avoid breathing of vapors. Keep liquid out of eyes. Flush with large amount of water. Contain liquid with sand or earth. Absorb with
sand or nonflammable absorbent material and transfer into steel drums for recovery or disposal. Prevent liquid from entering drains.
WASTE DISPOSAL METHOD
Follow local, State and Federal regulations. Incinerate or bury as a solid after absorption on cementation in a licensed facility. Do not discharge into
waterways or sewer systems.
SECTION VIII - SPECIAL PROTECTION INFORMATION
RESPIRATORY PROTECTION (Specify type)
If vapors or mists are generated, wear a NIOSH/MSHA approved organic vapor/mist respirator or an air supplied respirator as appropriate.
Use only SCBA for emergencies.
VENTILATION
Use only with adequate ventilation. Provide sufficient ventilation in volume and pattern to keep contaminants below applicable exposure limits set forth in Section II.
Use only explosion proof ventilation equipment.
PROTECTIVE GLOVES EYE PROTECTION
Butyl rubber or Fep teflon gloves Splashproof chemical goggles
OTHER PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT AND HYGIENIC PRACTICES
Impervious apron, boots as necessary. A source of running water to flush or wash the eyes and skin in case of contact.
SECTION IX - SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS
PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN IN HANDLING AND STORING: All label precautions must be observed when handling and storing. Store in the shade between
40°F - 110°F (5°C - 43.7°C). Keep away from heat, sparks, open flame and other sources of ignition. Avoid prolonged breathing of vapor. Use with adequate ventilation.

Specifications for Gorilla PVC

Humidity Since it is water-neutralized and you can clean up wet Gorilla PVC cement with water it will perform best when used in environments where the relative humidity is not greater than 80%.
Potable Water It's suitable and safe for potable water. NSF-14 & NSF-61: Gorilla PVC complies with ANSI/NSF Standard 61 Health Effects Requirements, and Standard 14 Plastics Piping System Components and Related Materials. Their Certified Product Listing allows it for use with PW, DWV, and SW.
Standards Meets or exceeds ASTM's D-2564, IAPMO R&T's UPC, and UL standards. It is listed by IAPMO R&T's UPC. It is classified by UL.
Classes & Schedules Gorilla PVC cement has been tested for all classes and schedules through 6" dia. and schedule 80 through 3" dia. (That is not to say, however, that it won't work on larger pipe. In fact, we have some very happy customers using it quite successfully on pipe as large as 18" or more.) Note: It is not suitable for C-PVC or ABS pipe.
Coverage Rate By way of example, one quart of Gorilla PVC will do approximately 40 joints of 3" pipe or 10 joints of 6" pipe.
Usage Approved for sewer, drain, potable water, pressure systems to 160 psi, gas conduit, and hot water to 185°F.
Set & Cure Times See the Set & Cure Schedule.
Shelf Life Up to 2 years or more unopened. The solvent in Gorilla PVC, NMP, has an almost unlimited shelf life in sealed containers when properly stored in a protected storage area protected from moisture.
Bond Strength 1 hour after gluing: 2 bar; 2 hours after gluing: 3 bar; 3 hours after gluing: 4 bar. After 3 hours: bond strength is increased by 1 bar per hour until maximum working pressure for the pipe is reached.
Color Original formula goes on clear, but dries white. Colored dye can be added to it for special requirements. In fact, Gorilla PVC is now also available in purple!
Usable temperature range 32°F to 140°F+ - far better than other PVC cements (usually 40°F to 110°F).
Freezing point -11.2°F. But... it can still be used with confidence even when you have subjected it to temperatures below -11.2°F: Simply let it warm up a bit!
Flash point 204°F! - many times safer than other PVC cements, whose flash point is 6°F.
Definition: The lowest temperature at which a liquid gives off enough vapor to form an ignitable mixture and burn when a source of ignition (sparks, open flames, cigarettes, etc.) is present.
Flammability It is simply non-flammable. According to the DOT and NFPA, a flammable liquid is one that has a flash point below 100°F (37.8°C). "The (UL) Classification relates to an arbitrary scale which provides a numerical relationship to the flammability characteristics of certain liquids in common use." The solvent in Gorilla PVC, NMP, is neither explosive nor spontaneously flammable in air. However, it is combustible. When ignited, NMP will sustain a fire.
